MY PERSONAL CONNECTION:
My biological, maternal great-grandparents immigrated to the United States in 1905 from Vilnius– a history I did not learn until well into adulthood and after my graduate work.
Discovering this connection deepened my sense of belonging to the region and strengthened my commitment to supporting people with Slavic and Baltic language backgrounds as they develop their personal and professional voices in English.
I hold an M.A. in Linguistics with an emphasis in Second Language Acquisition, a TESOL teaching endorsement, and a B.A. in Russian.
My training and experience allow me to recognize and address cross-Slavic pronunciation, rhythm, and prosodic patterns that affect clarity in American English.
I’m a native English speaker living in the United States.
I have experienced firsthand both the challenges and rewards of learning another language.
